Nov.1910 Kobe Engine Manufacturing Company, predecessor of Kobe Diesel Co., Ltd., was established in Kobe and began producing the first Borinder type petroleum engine in Japan.
Apr.1935 Hot bulb engine (900PS), the largest of its kind in the world at the time, was developed.
Jul.1938 Producing four-stroke diesel engines in addition to conventional hot bulb engines began.
Sep.1956 Our Plant was authorized by Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) Bureau.
Feb.1957 We established a technical tie-up with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and obtained a license to produce and sell Mitsubishi UE diesel engines (uniflow scavenging, two-stroke, single-acting and exhaust gas turbocharged engines).
Jun.1958 The first 6UET45/75A engine (2,700PS) under the license from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. was completed.
Jan.1971 Production of UE engine totaled 1,000,000PS (290 units).
Jun.1975 8UEC52/105E engine (10,600PS) with a two-stage turbocharging system, the first engine of its kind in the world, was completed.
Jun.1979 The first engine, constant pressure supercharging system featuring improved fuel saving 6UEC52/125H (8,000PS) was completed.
Sep.1979 The first engine, cylinder bore 600mm H series 6UEC60/150H (10,800PS) was completed.
Aug.1980 Fuel-saving 6UEC45/115H engine (6,000PS) was completed.
Feb.1982 Kobe Plant was moved to Seishin Industrial Park, Northwest of Kobe city.
Jun.1982 The first engine, exceptionally fuel-saving 7UEC60HA (14,000PS) was completed.
Aug.1983 Production of UE engine totaled 5,000,000PS (945 units).
Feb.1984 The first engine, long stroke L series 6UEC52L (9,600PS) was completed.
Jul.1984 Production of UE engine totaled 1,000 units.
Jun.1985 The first engine, fuel-saving long stroke LA series 5UEC52LA (8,000PS) was completed.
Oct.1987 The first engine, super-long stroke LS series 8UEC60LS (19,200PS) was completed.
May 1992 Production of UE engine totaled 7,000,000PS (1,203 units).
Sep.1993 The first engine, super-long stroke 6UEC50LSII (11,220PS) was completed.
Dec.1993 The first engine, super-long stroke 8UEC33LSII (5,870PS) was completed.
Jul.1998 Production of UE engine totaled 9,000,000PS (1,397 units).
Nov.1998 Kobe Diesel-Mitsubishi UE diesel engines were registered NK ISO9001 management system.
Jan.2000 The first unit of the complied engine with IMO NOx regulation Tier I was completed.
Dec.2000 The first engine, super-long stroke 8UEC60LSII (21,600PS) was completed.
Feb.2001 Production of UE engine totaled 10,000,000PS (1,481 units).
Apr.2001 The first engine, fuel-saving super-long stroke 6UEC52LSE (13,920PS) was completed.
Sep.2001 Production of UE engine totaled 1,500 units.
May 2003 The first engine, fuel-saving super-long stroke 7UEC43LSII (10,010PS) was completed.
Apr.2006 Nagasaki and Kobe Plant were merged; Head Office and plants were moved to the Company’s new buildings in Akashi, Hyogo.
